U.K. Villagers save money to by surveillance cameras

Here's a BBC story that is pregnant with implication:

"Fed up by a lack of police and a recent spate of petty crime, villagers [in Stockbridge] have clubbed together to pay for 24-hour surveillance by [two] TV cameras. A dance at a hotel and sales of a local history book helped raise £8,000."

And the story says the cameras are so effective they are saving up money to buy another one. Maybe this time they'll hold a bake sale.
