Would Judge Posner consider you a 'skillful Googler'?

Jason Shultz, whose weblog I had not discovered until pointed out by LawMeme, has an interesting post about Judge Posner's reference in a case to someone skilled in the practice of 'Googling.' I think more attorneys should work on their Googling skills (or their general Internet searching skills, not just the ones that rely on Google). The point aobut googlers is interesting. My concern is when everyone is using the net daily & hourly, how are juries going to deal with the ability to lookup every detail of a case nightly to compare to what they heard in court?

I was recently on almost placed on the jury panel. It would have been trivial to for me to look up the defendants on the net and see info about them. The barrier to this stuff is almost nil now.

and, of course, if you don't want to be found, you should employ a robots.txt file and also reinforce your .htaccess file. And, of course, regularly update the .htaccess file and check your server logs to make sure no search engines are invading your privacy.
