Order of the Coif

At the Visiting Committee we talked about the possibility of getting Coif. The Dean said that to get it we'd have to boost our library holdings. One Question: doesn't that go against the trendline? I mean as the Internet takes on more importance (seeing as how Tim Berners Lee created it for physicists to share timely information) one would expect more of the breaking scholastic information to be published on the Web, rather than in books. Obviously, books are necessary for somethings. But overall one has to expect that paper publication of academic stuff will be less de rigeur in the not-to-distant future. So why is Coif still placing a premium on the quantity of library holdings?

It seems like more of a measurement of "fund-raising" than scholarship.
