FEMA is on the line: what kind of trailer would you like?

Yesterday I got a call from FEMA.  The representative asked if I was still displaced from my home.  I told her that I had been back in my house for about a month (I guess the house call that FEMA rep Chloe made hadn't been entered into the master computer yet - see prior my post on this).  Undaunted by this information she proceeded to read the next question on her list: "Would you like FEMA to provide you with a trailer to live in?"

"No," I explained with a higher pitch in my voice. "My house is fine," adding "but I know people who do need a FEMA trailer."  She had run out of questions and so she wished me well and hung up.

I wish FEMA well too.  What I really wish, though, is that FEMA would figure out how to process information better.  Can't they run my zip code and see I live in an area where NO ONE is likely to qualify for a trailer.  Can their computer parse information by zip code?  If so then they should zero in on 70043 and 70044 (the St. Bernard area).  Or perhaps 70124 (Lakeview)?  I'm pretty sure there  are a lot of people in those zip codes that need trailers.

Interesting. I was home sick on Monday, and FEMA called, asking for my wife. I told the woman that she wasn't home, and asked if I could take a message. I'm not entirely sure what she said, because she said it too rapidly; then she hung up. I'm sure there is a check next to our name on some list somewhere.

I was called three days ago by FEMA asking for my Father, who is living in Hammond and working in New Orleans now. They wanted to know if he wanted a trailer. My older brother is getting a trailer - he works at Tulane and is living in a dorm room on campus for now. It seems like they decided two months was the appropriate waiting period for the New Orleans area to get trailers and en masse are delivering them. Strange bureaucracy.

Can we have a trailer in New Orleans East by Christmas? FEMA called and ask if I need a trailer to live in, I said YES THANK YOU SO MUCH. but nothing has ever come of it! At this point anything to call home would be nice..

FEMA has called a lot of our friends that live in the virtually unaffected area of uptown to ask if they would like a trailer. I lived in the Gentilly area around UNO and have not heard from anyone. We are in need of a trailer because my husband lives in New Orleans and I live in Mississippi with my son because we don't have housing. What's up with FEMA?
