Help for Louisiana Law Firms and Attorneys

Ross Kodner (a premier consultant in the field of legal technology) and I spoke today about helping Louisiana law firms get their Information Technology systems up and running in alternate locations.  Obviously this is a priority task and one that needs to be done properly.  He has some great information and resource links, which I'm putting in this post.  Just click on the 'keep reading this post' link below to see that information.               

Briefly, we've got a group called KatrinAID together. All top legal technologists and practice management types - you likely know most. We have major legal tech software vendors lined up as well. All are ready to volunteer their time to help displaced/distrupted lawyers get their practices restarted - first on a temporary basis, then more permanently - whatever approach best fits.

We hope to have a blog operational this weekend, likely at some variation of helpkatrinalawyers.org.

Everything we do will have prominent links on the ABA Katrina resource page at www.abanet.org/katrina and at lawtechnology.org and lawpractice.org. Likely on the www.iltanet.org site as well.

What we need most is a way to find out who to talk with to best get the word out to local lawyers in LA and MS that we will shortly have an army of volunteers to help with practice restarts and "techno.triage." Best bet is for anyone you talk with to talk to me - or we can work together as well to make the info available.

Also in the next week, we'll be coordinating creation of a series of audio educational sessions on disaster recovery, techno.triage, data recovery and restoration, rebuilding systems, etc. produced and distributed by West LegalEdCenter - they've volunteered their time to us on a priority basis so when people are ready, this will be there for them to listen to.
