Louisiana State Bar announces free legal research to members

The Louisiana State Bar has a new legal research service that is free to all bar association members.  Fastcase provides access to all US Supreme Court opinions; US Ct of Appeal opinions from 1924; US District Ct opinions from 1932; all Bankruptcy Ct opinions, and opinions from all 50 state courts from at leas t 1950.  Fastcase also provides access to statutory materials. I've never used FastCase but I saw a demo at a conference and was impressed. What's unique is that it appears to have access to a deep data base of US District court decisions which are hardest to come by and generally drive the price of most legal research systems. Unfortunately for me, as an energy regulatory practitioner, energy research tools are even harder to come by and thus, I stand almost no chance of finding competitively priced legal research services. But kudos to Louisiana Bar for providing a service that will help many solo and small law practitioners.

Hi! I'm a lawyer from California and licensed to practice in state & federal court out west. It doesn't appear to be legal to practice any federal law in Louisiana unless one is also admitted to the Louisiana Bar. Are you aware of any rules, laws or codes that you can point me to to help me figure out a way to legally practice federal transactional law in New Orleans under my west coast license while I study for and wait for LA bar results?
