Surveillance cameras to thwart crime
Arizona Republic: "Snapping a picture of a speeder's license plate and sending him a ticket in the mail is so old tech. What's new tech is snapping a picture of a license plate and a vehicle, determining whether they've been stolen or belong to a bad guy, and alerting the cops just seconds later."
Looks promising. But then so much new technology does when you first read about it. The devil is in the details, or --more precisely-- in the implementation.
